We are located on 68 Lonsdale Street, ground floor, a red brick building next to the Telstra building between Spring and Exhibition Streets.

Appointments:
Please ring 9639 9600 for an appointment.  Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time.  Emergency cases will always be given priority.  Our reception staff will attempt to contact patients if doctors have been delayed.   Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our reception staff if you require extra time.  If you need an interpreter, we can organise this for you in advance, please let us know when you make the appointment.

After hours care arrangements:
The practice provides 24 hour care for patients through the Melbourne Medical Locum Service.  Please ring the normal surgery number (03 9639 9600) or 9429 5677 and you will be connected to this Service.

Patients seeking medical attention after hours can still contact our surgery on (03) 9639 9600, when the centre is closed. Incoming calls will be directed to the Melbourne Medical Locum Service (MMLS), which allow patients access to available medical attention 24 hours a day, anytime of the week. Information about MMLS is made available to patients visiting the centre; also patients can choose to take home MMLS magnets containing the direct contact number for their services.

Home Visits and Telephone Access:
Home visits are available for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery.  Doctors in the practice may be contacted during normal surgery hours.  If the doctor is with a patient, you can leave a message with the reception staff and the doctor will phone you back as soon as possible.  In the event of an emergency you will always be put through to the doctor.

Our practice:
Melbourne City Medical Centre relocated on new address recently.  The centre has five General Practitioners:

Dr Feng Yang has had over 19 years experience in all aspects of general practice.  He has interests in Woman’s Health, Acupuncture and Travel Medicine.  Dr Yang’s other interests include reading and travel.

Dr Denis Schifter joined the clinic in 2007.  His area of medical interest is in Internal Medicine.  He has a broad range of other interests, especially in the Natural Sciences.

Dr Dan Lee joined our clinic in 2008.  She has a special interest in Women’s Health and Cosmetic Medicine.

Services available:
Check ups, family planning, Women’s Health, pap smears, pregnancy tests, ECG- heart checks, counselling, vaccinations – children and travel vaccinations, minor surgery – stitching cuts, removal of moles and sunspots, liquid nitrogen freezing therapy for sun spots and warts, nutritional advice, sports medicine and skin checks.

Allied Health Services
Physiotherapy, Osteopathy and Pathology.

Fees and billing arrangements:
We are a private clinic all fees are payable at the time of consultation by Cash, EFT, MasterCard, AMEX or Visa.  The AMA fee structure forms the basis of our billing policy and is displayed in the reception area of the surgery.  If you have any difficulty in paying our fees, please discuss it with us.

Most of the pathology tests taken in the clinic have no gap fee.  If certain tests are required that have an out of pocket fee, the doctor will inform the patient.

There are also Radiology Clinics within the area that offer no gap fee on most of their services for Medicare card holders.

Management of Results:
The Doctor will advise their patients to make an appointment within 48 hours to collect their results or if the results are abnormal the patient will be notified earlier to come in and discuss with GP.

Reminder System:
Our practice is committed to preventative care.   We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.  If you do not wish to be part of this system please inform our reception staff.

Management of your Personal Health Information:

Your medical record is a confidential document.  It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.

Patients can request their health information but must do so in writing and according to our policy.
